Grady-White’s Coastal Explorer series is so popular, it recently expanded with a 231CE to fill in behind the larger 251 and 281. The 231, though shorter, shows little sacrifice in luxury and fishability. It is fully featured and easily trailerable.

Grady-White utilized the console, lean bar and more from the 251, offering plenty of space for navigation electronics and seating—all protected by a large hardtop that is outrigger-ready.

Fishermen are further equipped with a 25-gallon livewell and an aft casting deck with built-in jump seats and cushioned backs. These swivel, offering access to the boarding platform, which is equipped with a boarding ladder. The design of the transom further accommodates two Power-Poles or Raptor shallow-water anchors.

Rod storage is ample, with four rocket launchers in the lean bar, four more in the hardtop, plus two more optional rod hangers under each gunwale to keep tackle handy and safe. Raw- and freshwater spigots are conveniently located to wash the deck, tackle or sandy feet.

There is a roomy, inviting changing room below the console with a standard portable head. On the front of the console is a long jump seat big enough to stretch out. There’s a step to the casting deck sized generously for two or more anglers, but it can convert quickly to an enormous sunning lounge for two or three. Electrically operated seatbacks at the bow fold down to provide casting-deck space.

Yamaha’s 250 hp outboard, with integrated power steering, makes this a great handling package with a top speed of just under 50 mph. Its maneuverability at speed is enhanced by Yamaha’s power steering. At rest or at trolling speeds, its stability makes it an excellent casting platform that provides secure footing to battle fish. It settles gently under the shifting weight of the crew, making accurate casts to mangroves or dock pilings easy.

The 231 Coastal Explorer is ideal for coastal exploring and presents owners with features and fun not always available in a compact bay boat.

Garnering nods of appreciation from anglers as well as boaters seeking luxury and performance alike, Formula’s 457 CCF delivers the goods.

On the angling front, its huge self-bailing cockpit is fitted and equipped to battle the big ones. Boarding doors port and starboard swing on massive chromed stainless-steel hinges, and twin blue-gelcoated livewells grace the transom. Look up to see Gemlux 22-foot outriggers. The cockpit rigging station/wet bar offers a slide-away mezzanine bench, full Corian countertop/rigging station, removable cutting board, sink, Plano tackle-box organizer, drawer storage and more. The dual-voltage drawer refrigerator-freezer can chill bait, drinks or both. There’s plenty of insulated fish boxes underfoot. Opt for the upper station, complete with controls, electronics and its own hardtop. The optional SureShade thwarts hot sun.

In the bow, find a deep, plush lounge as well as dual chaises on the front of the console. Under the curvaceous hardtop, find two rows of seating. Air conditioning powered by the standard genset keeps these cool. Or allow breeze in with the standard electric-opening windshield. For wind protection, the 457 CCF’s rigid side wings deploy between the console and the hullsides to keep wind at bay.

Belowdecks, we found designer style and a ton of function. This cabin, with an enclosed head and shower, is well-lit, air-conditioned and offers plenty of headroom.

At the helm, teak accents blend with flush-mounted big screens. Air conditioning is ducted here, and its raised location provides excellent visibility.

The 457 CCF runs on Formula’s FAS3Tech hull, which proves quick, nimble, and adroit at smoothing the water. With its foam-filled, continuous molded structural grid, it feels solid underfoot. The triple 600s powering our test boat delivered 57 mph at wide-open throttle. Notably, these engines are super-quiet, making long runs easy on the ears. Mercury’s JPO joystick minimizes docking stress.

Seeking a boat that scratches the itch to fish and does so while satisfying your desire for top quality and luxury? Sea-trial a Formula 457 CCF.

With its spacious enclosed pilothouse, seakindly hull, impressive performance and extended range, NorthCoast’s 415HT is equally suited to trolling far offshore or cruising distant coastlines, with an impressive list of standard features that enhance the boat’s broad appeal.

Quad Yamaha 300 XSB outboards provide around 400 miles of range from 600 gallons of fuel through speeds between 28 mph and 45 mph. Pushing the throttles near our 55.1 mph top speed (hampered by 20-knot headwinds compared to Yamaha’s tested 57.6 mph max) still covers 300 miles from full tanks. Its V-bottom and flared hullsides cut seas and reduce spray, while the Seakeeper 4, which runs quietly from 12-volt batteries alone, flattens pitch and roll.

NorthCoast 415HT helm
There are dual 19-inch Axiom displays at the helm. Courtesy NorthCoast Boats

Navigating, even in fog or at night, is aided by radar, a plotter and FLIR, along with Raymarine’s ClearCruise augmented reality that overlays AIS traffic, GPS waypoints and more atop nav and video images on dual 19-inch Axiom displays, where YachtSense also monitors and controls ship’s systems.

In the enclosed pilothouse, dual overhead hatches, four large side windows and the aft bulkhead all open to catch a breeze. Or button them up, crank the 9 kW diesel generator, and chill in air conditioning. Abovedecks is a large high-low table and amply equipped galley center entertainment. A big cockpit includes standard aft-facing seating, tackle drawers, livewells, fish boxes, and both an aft transom door and side gunwale door. In addition to the long standards list, NorthCoast offers an optional Cruiser cockpit settee, as well as optional equipment such as outriggers and a rocket launcher for the fisherman.

Down below, the private master cabin features an island queen bed, while the aft cabin extends beneath the pilothouse sole and houses both a double bed and a separate single folding berth. The head includes a separate stall shower roomy enough to avoid using marina facilities. There is also a small settee, and storage is maximized throughout.

Whether you’re inclined to fish the offshore canyons or cruise the coast of Maine, the NorthCoast 415HT offers the versatility to help you do it.

High Points

  • Yamaha’s Helm Master EX joystick adds functionality with docking, station keeping, and various drift modes.
  • Both the queen bed forward and twin bed aft lift on gas struts to access storage compartments long enough for fishing rods or large enough for extended cruising provisions.
  • No wood—the FRP stringer grid is rot-free and foam-filled, helping provide USCG Level Flotation.
  • Pilothouse settee table adjusts height to serve meals, enjoy cocktails, create a comfy day bed or add overnight accommodations.

The new Pursuit OS 405 raises the bar on the long-popular OS 385 it supersedes in many ways. It starts with an all-new hull with 20 degrees of transom deadrise for soft running offshore (the OS in the name). Upping the ante from triple Yamaha 300s to triple Yamaha 450 XTO outboards, the OS 405 hits 55-plus mph, and cruises for 317 miles at 28-plus mph, sipping just 39 gph.

Under the OS 405’s extended hardtop are two rows of seats behind the large-pane windshield. Impressively engineered, the hardtop boasts two hatches for air and light, plus provisions for Rupp outrigger controls. From a Stidd seat, the captain views twin Garmin 22-inch multifunction displays, Zipwake trim control, a bow thruster and a Yamaha Helm Master joystick. The Stidd companion seat rotates to face the standard table and L-shaped lounge, which converts to a berth.

The cockpit, lined by rod holders, delights anglers with a 75-gallon refrigerated fish box, 50-gallon livewell, insulated deck lockers, and a bait-prep area with a sink and stowage. Two aft-facing seats plus a fold-down transom seat add all-day comfort, and a midcockpit galley handles alfresco meals with a grill. A custom-tuned JL Audio stereo system provides Hi-Fi audio. All cockpit seats feature Dri-Fast foam and mesh backing to ensure dry comfort. Forward, enjoy the padded chaise-style lounges with adjustable backrests. Take our advice and order the optional sunshade.

Belowdecks, find a Memory Foam queen berth forward that folds into a salon lounge electrically. The enclosed head features a separate stall shower, and the midcabin (with door) features a full-size bed. The galley houses a two-burner cooktop, two-drawer fridge and a microwave.

Adding to the comfort underway, the standard Seakeeper 6 gyrostabilizer keeps the OS 405 stable at rest and underway, while the Fischer-Panda 9 kW generator keeps the blender running from a separate 31-gallon diesel fuel tank. The Pursuit Protection Plan includes a five-year hull and deck warranty, and five-year blister-free warranty. This boat’s got you covered.

High Points

  • Inward-swinging cockpit side door with telescoping ladder makes it easy to board or haul in a trophy catch.
  • Large, laminated glass windshield provides excellent visibility, even through polarized glasses.
  • Two private cabins plus a cockpit convertible berth share the enclosed head with a stall shower.
  • Hand-laminated hull with vinylester resin, and foam-filled infused grid system with 27-layer infused transom reinforcement.

In case you skipped Greek Mythology 101, Panacea was the goddess of all solutions and cures. It is the perfect name for the new Intrepid 41, which is, indeed, ready to satisfy all your boating wishes and desires.

Go fast? Our test boat had triple Mercury 400s, which were grab-your-hat quick to 55 mph.

Overnighting is easy with the spacious cabin (6 feet, 3 inches of headroom), big V-berth, and head with shower. There’s even a mini galley for morning coffee.

Intrepid 41 Panacea helm seating
The skipper and two companions get lush seats with great lumbar support. Courtesy Intrepid Powerboats

Fishing? Twin bait tanks and large fish boxes are standard, with a lot of rod holders. Entertain? The outdoor galley behind the helm has a grill, fridge, sink and ice chest. Flexible seating is protected by the pull-out sunshade from the hardtop. Dive? The oversize hull door makes boarding divers and fish easy.

The Intrepid 41 Panacea is a boat for all reasons disguised as a sophisticated center-console. The skipper and two companions get lush seats with great lumbar support facing a modern dash with twin 22-inch Garmin monitors and Bocatech push buttons. The no-distortion curved windshield stretches to the rakish hardtop. In the cockpit, seating unfolds as needed or disappears for fishing. The clean and uncluttered swim platform (all outboard plumbing is hidden) lets you board safely from the dock or water.

Wide walkways lead forward to twin sun pads on the cabin top, plus wraparound seating forward with a high-low table that retracts flush into the floor.

For comfort, air conditioning (powered by the underfloor 9 kW generator) cools the cabin and vents through the dash on hot days. Each 41 Panacea is equipped with a standard Seakeeper 4 gyrostabilizer.

Intrepid is legendary for offshore performance, and the 41 again lifts the seaworthiness bar. The single-step hull aerates the hull for speed while remaining solid, three strakes soften landings, and the hard chine pushes spray aside at speed while stabilizing the hull when trolling. Construction is all resin-infused, and each hull is custom-built to each owner’s wants and desires.

The Intrepid 41 Panacea is truly a boat for all reasons.

Scout’s latest, the 400 LXF fills out the company’s line of center-console yachts with another luxury fishing vessel.

State-of-the-art design and construction include carbon fiber and E-glass for the highest possible strength-to-weight ratio. An automotive-rated Class A gelcoat finish shines. The stepped 22-degree deadrise V-hull and a setback transom are built for dual Mercury Verado V-12 600 hp outboards. Acceleration is quick (8.6 seconds to 30 mph), and top speed is fast (59 mph at 6,300 rpm turning counter-rotating 29-pitch Mercury Verado stainless-steel propellers). The 400 LXF has a 395-gallon fuel tank under the sole. At the most economical cruise speed of 37 mph, it has a range of over 282 miles with 10 percent left in reserve.

Big seas are handled with confidence and efficiency. The 400 LXF carves, turns and slices through big chop with solid feedback and precision. At the helm, you’re comfortably supported by the triple heated captain’s helm seats. Engine data is right on the dual Garmin screens flush-mounted in the dash, shielded from the overhead sun by a custom hardtop with a curved safety-glass enclosure. Your crew in the bow catches the sun while relaxing on the U-shaped contoured seating or the double-wide forward-facing reclined lounge seats. Of course, there’s ample stowage underneath, with recessed pockets and chargers for everyone’s e-toys and shades.

A raised aft-facing lounge seat resides in the leaning post. An ice maker and refrigerator keep things cool. Boarding access is easy through port and starboard acrylic transom-access doors, with a full transom walk-through platform and an Armstrong dive ladder. Port and starboard 92-gallon in-floor fish boxes are emptied by pumps, and twin port and starboard aerated baitwells each carry 33 gallons of circulating water.

The Phenom 37 is built for high speed with a multistrake stepped hull and a 23-inch transom deadrise. Its ride is dry and comfortable. The hull is vacuum-infused with a hand-laid, foam-filled stringer grid for strength and light weight.

Our testing revealed quick acceleration—zero to 30 mph in 7 seconds flat, and top speed a tick over 70. The boat featured a faux-teak toe rail that encircles the deck, giving a rich and unique appearance. The bow section is a spacious entertainment area available with or without modular twin facing bow benches and a wide bow lounge. An electrically operated center table doubles as support for a center cushion for the forward benches, making a large sun pad. Recessed handrails complete the safety approach in the bow. The entire cockpit sole is encircled by a recessed gutter to route water away and overboard.

The center console is flanked by midship in-floor storage lockers. Inside the console, a 6-foot day bed sits forward, with a convertible backrest for sitting upright. There’s a head and sink aft. The console and dash are protected by a safety-glass windshield and enclosed hardtop. Dual Garmin screens dominate the dash, with reliable, fully digital EmpirBus switching for all systems on board, such as lighting and pumps. Standard cooled and heated console seats keep the pilot and navigators comfy no matter the temperature outside. All battery access is ready under the console seating area, along with tackle-box storage at the sides. At the aft side of the console seating is a bench seat. The back opens to reveal more tackle storage with a cooler beneath.

Belowdecks, access to the Seakeeper 3 unit, pumps and plumbing is spacious. An electrically actuated transom seat stows flush in the transom and folds down for riding. The dual automatic, pressurized baitwell system is patented with glass viewing ports.

The Phenom 37 is a fast offshore fisher and cruiser, built to order and competitively priced with an impressive list of standard features that include a Seakeeper 3, sea chest, Garmin open-array radar, joystick and integrated Vetus bow thruster.

Solid, unsinkable Ramcap construction, a 25-degree deadrise hull and a pair of Mercury 400 outboards are the hallmarks that made this one of our favorite 30-something center-consoles for 2025. With a top speed of 55 mph and a range of nearly 400 miles at 31.9 mph, it is not only swift but also nimble, cornering crisply in our narrow Intracoastal Waterway channel and doing so without dumping off plane or blowing out the props. Slicing cruiser wakes was child’s play.

Mercury power steering, digital throttle and shift, optional joystick controls plus digital switching are all high-tech advantages that make the vessel easy and fun to drive. In fact, the confidence brought on by these technologies makes the skippering experience of this oceangoing mini yacht feel more controllable than a Corvette.

Ramcap construction is Everglades’ patented manufacturing technology, bonding super-hard polyurethane foam modules molded to perfectly fit the hull voids between the deck, hull and stringer grid. The bottom is rigid and unbreakable, and for nearly 25 years, it has always been guaranteed to remain so.

The helm is protected by a three-panel tempered-glass windshield bonded to the console and hardtop structure. The front panel raises and lowers hydraulically (also patented). The console and forward seat lounges at the bow are optionally teak-trimmed, an irresistibly elegant look.

Yet the 315cc is a better-equipped fishing vessel, even with having more in place for family comfort than most center-consoles on the market. Dual 25-gallon livewells on the transom, a generous array of rod holders in the transom and gunwales, rod stowage in the hardtop and under the gunwales, and 160 gallons of fish boxes are just a few of the fishy features.

The portside boarding door saves the transom for stowable gunwale-to-gunwale bench lounges. Added seating includes the lounge on the front of the console and belowdecks is a head compartment with a shower.

Everglades’ 315cc is a solid ride with unbeatable creature comforts and all the features needed to fish competitively.

If Jupiter built cars, they’d be Porsches. The 340LS would be the Cayenne, a luxury SUV with raw power, impressively nimble, and styled in luxury. It’s just that the 340LS can fish too.

First, the power. Triple Yamaha 300 hp outboards gave us rapid acceleration and a top speed that will eat the seas at nearly 60 mph and do it in smooth, wave-slicing style. In corners, the power steering, thrust, and crisp V-bottom with a 24-degree transom deadrise cornered like a Porsche. Yamaha’s full maneuverability captures that raw power, and it tangos sideways with the joystick.

The helm station makes easy business of managing this nimble performer. Navigation displays report engine functions while a Yamaha display offers compact redundancy. Digital switching ensures the reliable electrical systems and tactile buttons offer at-a-glance access to the most common functions. A tilt wheel and plenty of phone chargers add convenience.

Tall or short skippers are accommodated with a drop-down helm step and custom ladder-back, teak-trimmed bucket seats. Teak trim on the double lounge forward of the helm and the seatbacks of the bow lounges screams “largesse” loud enough, you don’t need to crank up the premium stereo with multiple amps and subs to show off.

But the 340LS is set up to be lethal. A 60-gallon livewell, centered on the transom, features an aquarium front. For comfort, a double jump seat nests over it, with a bottom cushion held in place by a sail rail, allowing it to tilt forward to lift the livewell lid. Slide it out and stow it for more serious work. The seatback has rod holders to replace the rod holders that secure it. Fish boxes are pumped overboard. Rod holders abound, and the comfy mezzanine seating has ample tackle storage and rigging space revealed with the seatback tilted down.

Below the console is a spacious lockable cabin with a head compartment and shower. Access to the helm station is generous, as is the convenient access to battery switches on deck.

The 340LS is as cool as the breeze over the bow and hotter than a pinch of cayenne.

High Points

  • Dry storage beneath forward lounge seats doubles as fish boxes.
  • Rod lockers in the deck stow tuna sticks securely.
  • Hardware is yacht-quality, polished, and durable with hawse pipes to stop line chafing.

Step aboard the Grady-White Freedom 345. You’ll be struck by the opulence of its amenities, the sheer space of this wide-beamed new Freedom dual-console model, and the aura of strength and quality emanating from every fixture and feature.

The Freedom 345’s hardtop, Grady’s trademarked AV² enclosure, sports a tall windshield and attractive support pillars that enhance its Carolina lines. A SureShade electrically retractable cockpit shade and Clear²Sea side curtains are other features of the AV² enclosure.

In the tremendous cockpit, we commended boarding doors and fuel fills on both sides. We also applauded the entertainment station with its grill, refrigerator, sink and storage, all paired with a wraparound companion seat served by an electrically adjustable table. Add the cushion to convert to dual forward-facing loungers. Forward, seating in the bow, as throughout the boat, features indirect LED lighting, luxurious upholstery, and both USB and USB-C charging ports.

Inside the starboard console, find a shower, sink, skylight and a freshwater VacuFlush head. Inside the port console, we liked the electromechanically operated berth, bench seat, flat-screen TV, microwave and skylight. Both console cabins featured designer details, such as tiled backsplashes and cabinetry with fluted inlays. The standard diesel generator keeps the air conditioning flowing in these spaces, and headroom is generous.

At the elevated helm sit dual Command Elite helm chairs with ergonomic access to electronics and accessory controls, including air conditioning to keep the area cool.

The options list is short and starts with choosing twin 450 or triple 350 Yamahas. The Seakeeper stabilizer is a no-brainer, and if you fish, the outriggers, underwater lighting, and aft refrigerator/freezer/fish box with digital thermostat are a must.

Seeking a luxury dayboat with overnight options and the confidence that comes from owning a bluewater-capable boat? Check out Grady-White’s Freedom 345.
